Please, I do not have access to the 6th edition of Kent's. The rubric below is found in CR:
Neck; constriction, contraction; sleep, during: LACH(4).
I understand constriction, but what does he mean by "contraction?"
I would also appreciate any comments on Kent's comments (in Kent's Lectures...) about Lachesis being "long-acting and if abused its effects last a lifetime." He later mentions Lach leading to life-long symptoms in some provers. Did anyone else observe this? If so, was there any relief found in a known antidote or...?
And what does he mean by "nutmeg liver?"
And I see LACH under "Vomiting, violent." Have you seen violent vomiting that leads to ecchymosis in whites of eyes mentioned in MM for Lachesis? (Perhaps this is not uncommon in violent vomiting? IDK, have insufficient experience.)
This is just research, not for an active acute case.
Thank you very much.

Contraction usually means a spasm that is involuntary, the neck moves sharply one way or another
Nutmeg liver is due to venous congestion and thus it begins to look like a nutmeg
Very easy to imagine the eye sx with vomiting. Strenuous and violent vomiting always makes the eyes red, watery, in Lachesis the throat sx are so strong they feel like they are choking or being strangled when vomiting hence the red and bloodshot eyes
I don’t have Kent’s lectures anymore - which chapter is it in? High doses, that is repeated again and again and high potency of any rx can lead to long lasting sx and this might have happened with Lachesis, I will check more. The know antidotes now will be referenced in most materia medicas but at the time of early provings that might not have been known

The modern antidotes for Lachesis are Alum; Bell; Cedron; Cocc; Coff; Hep; Merc; Nit-ac; Nux vom; The original potencies were conducted with 30c and high potencies I think Kent noted that some early provers either were not aware of antidoting or just didn’t bother or maybe they weren’t even known for that remedy § 276 of the Organon gives Hahnemann’s view Here is an image of a nutmeg liver dccdn.de/www.doccheck.com/data/j2/vf/vr/um/yd/ub/getpic-img-67_lg.jpg

"Lectures on Homeopathic Materia Medica" as found in CR's MM section. Thank you for the nutmeg liver photo. Ugh. I was reading Whitmont's 1974 lecture on Lachesis this morning. Still digesting his concept of a life unlived, emotional repression, etc. It's been years since I last read Whitmont. I also found an interesting reference to sepia and platina given in succession when lachesis is unavailable. I appreciated the miasm map you posted for lachesis. Will check out the Organon 276 you mentioned.
Thank you.
