There is a good number of remedies that have something to do with cobwebs, and as always try and imagine what this might feel like.
Cobwebs are light, airy, gauzy, cause a feeling of formication, somewhat sticky, tenacious and no-one likes to walk straight into one.
The cobweb sensation in Bromium can be felt anywhere on the skin. If this is a long term come and go symptom I can imagine it having a pins and needles type feeling and a constant need to wipe or brush away.
Bromine is a halogen and thus reactive and toxic, it has a reddish colour so expect to see discharges this colour and Bromine has nosebleeds that can accompany many other symptoms and the nose becomes quite a focus for sensations such as tickling, smarting (bromide smells like bleach), the nostrils feel stopped up, there is a sense of pressure, and coryzas are common and frequent and often long standing. Overall a respiratory remedy.
Allopaths suggest this cobweb sensation is a symptom related to Tabes dorsalis, (neuro-syphilitic) and it involves the trigeminal nerve and also suggests degeneration elsewhere. They call it Hutchinson’s mask.
Homeopaths tend to think of Bromine as being within the tubercular miasm as so much involves the respiratory functions. Glandular swellings are also dominant.
Stony hard swellings, pressure, blockages all contribute to someone who, although can show themselves to be cheerful, are generally very low spirited. They need looking after, need to be carried, they are fearful, have terrible dreams and delusions are the sort you can imagine after having sniffed bleach for long periods.
They feel blocked because they have no air.
Bromine dissolves in water, thus it is a hydrophobic remedy as well.
Its toxicity coupled with the occurrence of stony hard glands means it is a remedy for many cancers - stomach, testes, uterus, breast and skin.
