Dreams of…..Bats flying in the room and causing fear - Hamamelis
The remedy featured here that is most interesting to me is Hamamelis as it dreams of bats generally as well as the more specific symptom of flying around the room.
Flying bats instilling fear in some people is actually quite common and it a rises from the nature of the flying technique of many bats as they swoop down to catch flies, moths and the like for their food. It is this swooping which created the myth that bats attack people around the head area but of course this is quite silly.
However people still can easily have an aversion to these quite lovely creatures.
So, as always, the next question is why does Hamamelis have these dreams of bats.
If you scan the list of dreams that feature in the Hamamelis symptom picture you will see that other animals are involved and also dreams that are vivid, unpleasant (needs defining in the individual), and frightful dreams.
Hamamelis is quite a depressed and unmotivated remedy, sluggish in its social activities and interaction with people. But it is its main constitutional type that is linked to the fear of bats. And that is a venous constitution.
Everything about the physical symptoms of Hamamelis is to do with the blood - congestion, varicose veins and phlebitis, haemorrhages, haemorrhoids, many menstrual problems, wounds bleed profusely, bruising is easy, nose bleeds are common - blood literally cannot be contained easily or function properly.
I can only conjecture that the varieties of bats that indulge in Haematophagy (diet of blood) is what creates this link to Hamamelis and dreaming of bats. Vampires and all that stuff
