A few years ago, I happened to witness a short written discussion about the book Organon. I must say that I was very unpleasantly surprised. Two homeopaths I know exchanged a few sentences and the conclusion I remember was: You read The Organon once and you don't need it anymore.
At the time, I was translating David Little's lectures 'Hahnemann's advanced methods,' and I think we all know that David is perhaps the best contemporary connoisseur of Hahnemann's complete work. In each of those eight lectures, he refers to Organon several times. Here I want to convey something that Bönninghausen stated, and we all also know that besides Melanie, he was the only collaborator with whom Hahnemann shared literally all his conclusions, procedures and methods, especially in the last years of his life. (I apologize in advance for the perhaps clumsy translation, because I did not find his original statement, so I translated from Serbian to English, trying to keep the essence.) „In fact, it now seems a rarity and an exception when some homeopath again consults The Organon of Healing Art, and I know a few who don't have it at all, and have never read that book. And yet, beyond any discussion, it is the basis of the homeopathic skill of healing and has many valuable grains of gold that are in it, so with each re-reading of this important book, especially if it is read by an experienced homeopathic practitioner, one will acquire new and important instructions and knowledge from it, and because of that its neglect can never be overly condemned.“ C.G. von Bönninghausen, lg. hom. Zeit., Vol. XLVII, s. 57-65, 1853.

I have never understood when so many homeopaths say they haven’t read the organon, have no plans to when chastised and even go on to proclaim it is out of date and such like or even suggest that many poor modern methods Hahnemann would have got around to praising during his own time - their blatant attempt at re-inventing the homeopathic wheel.
Needless to say that after many readings there is still much to regard and learn from this little book. Yes, some passages aren’t always easy to understand and that’s why we will continue to explore and explain.
